Produced by Phenomen Berlin Filmproduktions GmbH. Premiered at the 68th Berlinale, 24–25 February 2018, as “Kino im Wohnzimmer” at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.

What does it mean to live in a neighborhood? In the summer of 2017, 140 people living on and around Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin’s Mitte district were interviewed. These conversations were turned into a series of short films offering personal insights into diverse lives: long-standing Mitte dwellers, start-up founders, centenarians, globetrotters, students, and those pining for the old East Germany. People who have lived here for two months or sixty years; who grew up in East or West Germany, in Latin America, Russia, or former Yugoslavia. For the Berlinale premiere, spectators were led by a guide through three private living rooms of interview partners, with two episodes shown in each apartment, and invited to continue the conversations with the residents before moving on.
